Community Gardens

Project Grow currently has 18 community gardens throughout Ann Arbor. A full sized plot is approximately 25'x30' (size varies slightly at different gardens) and costs $130. We also offer half sized plots at $80 and raised beds for easy access at the Discovery Gardens at the rate of $50 for one and $80 for two. Check out our interactive map to find a site that's convenient for you.

Applications for the coming season are accepted beginning on January 1st of each year. Returning gardeners have until February 15th of each year to re-apply for the plot they gardened the previous year. After March 15th we start assigning new gardeners, on a first come first serve basis to garden plots that have not been claimed.

Online application and pre-payment is preferable as you will be instantly added to our database, thus reserving your place in line. If you are unable (or simply prefer not to) use our online application, you can download a printable application here and mail it, along with your payment to: Project Grow, P.O. Box 130293, Ann Arbor, MI 48113

Everything you need to know about the gardens and how they operate is available here on our website. The general information page will fill you in on what Project Grow provides at each site, what the cost of a plot covers, our policies, etc. The gardener's guidelines page outlines the responsibilities of a Project Grow gardener. The Member Handbook is a PDF of the booklet we distribute annually to new gardeners. It contains everything from the general information page, the gardening guidelines page and more. The Addendums to the member handbook are site specific notations about the location of water, condition of the soil, contact info for the site coordinator, special instructions from landowners and so on.
